About us
Our journey began in the year 1956, under the guidance of Leo Simonian.
Famed for his rounds in San Mateo in a vintage Rolls Royce, Leo Simonian was on a mission to collect rugs. A dedicated wash plant emerged in the 1950s with one sole purpose: to master the art of rug cleaning.
Leo embraced age-old methods passed down by Middle Eastern rug artisans, setting us apart in our approach to cleaning. This rich heritage shapes our unique perspective on rug care, distinguishing us from other Bay Area cleaners who rely solely on U.S.-based methods, often missing the mark with more complex rugs. As time marched on, the reins of the business were passed along, landing in the hands of myself, Austin Reinders, the current steward of our legacy and the author behind these words.

Our Team
Over the years, we've meticulously sculpted our team, choosing each member not just for their skills, but for their passion, eagerness to learn, and sense of responsibility.
What it takes to thrive at Simonian is a unique blend of knowledge and insight that you won't find in any textbook or classroom.
Our comprehensive training program is the backbone of our team's expertise, beginning with the origins of wool, silk, and other fibers, and spanning the intricacies of crafting rugs.
